“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when one contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvellous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries to comprehend only a little of this mystery every day.” Einstein

ABOUT MARIA T. BARBIERI

I’m the founder of Untangled, an independent strategic marketing advisory practice. My career has been built across the points where business, product, customer and market meet.

I started in product management at Orange (France Telecom Group) and Telecom Italia, gaining first-hand experience of how products are built and brought to market. Since then, I’ve spent more than 15 years across product marketing, field marketing, strategic marketing, communications and innovation—most recently as Head of Marketing at Lloyd’s Register’s Safetytech Accelerator, following senior international roles at Deutsche Telekom Global Business and Thales / Gemalto.

That range has given me a broader perspective on how businesses create value, how customers make decisions and why commercial challenges are rarely as straightforward as they first appear. It has also taught me that good strategic decisions rarely come from looking at one function in isolation.

I’ve always been interested in why something works, what is driving the outcome and what patterns emerge when the evidence is considered together. That instinct - to look beneath the surface, question the obvious answer and establish which problem actually needs solving - shapes every engagement.

My interest in behavioural science and cognitive psychology adds another perspective: how people process information, form judgements and make decisions.

I work with leadership teams that need an experienced, independent perspective to make sense of complex situations, challenge assumptions and identify where strategic marketing can make the greatest difference.

My role isn’t to arrive with predetermined answers. It’s to ask better questions, bring structure to complexity and help organisations move forward with clarity and confidence.
